Manipulation of funeral terms limits competition in Belgrade

The Association of Serbian Private Funeral Companies warns the public and institutions responsible for the implementation of the Law on Communal Activities and the Law on Protection of Competition that licensed private undertakers continue to face manipulations on a daily basis by the Service of PCC “Pogrebne usluge”, Belgrade.

This Belgrade public company does not want to schedule funerals for clients of private undertakers in 9 Belgrade cemeteries as soon as 2 days after the death of the deceased, but introduces the so-called “Extraordinary dates” that private undertakers and their clients must pay extra, while at the same time if the client selects PCC “Pogrebne usluge” to organize the funeral and purchase funeral equipment, the “regular term” of the funeral is automatically approved as soon as possible and there is no additional charge. In this way, by using the dominant position of managing the nine largest Belgrade cemeteries, PCC “Pogrebne usluge”, grossly distorts market competition.
