Belgrade hospitals turned into funeral equipment stores

The daily gross violation of the Law on Health Care by PCC “Pogrebne usluge” Belgrade and the largest hospitals in Belgrade, which allowed the opening of funeral equipment stores of PCC “Pogrebne usluge” in their buildings and hospital circles, continues. In addition, hospital administrations do not allow private undertakers to take over the remains of the deceased at the request of the immediate family, but only hire PCC “Pogrebne usluge” for this. This practice is common in all hospitals belonging to the Clinical Hospital Center of Serbia in the City of Belgrade, as well as CHC Bežanijska kosa, CHC Zvezdara, CHC Zemun, CHC “Dragiša Mišović”, Special Hospital “St. Sava” and Covid Hospital “Batajnica”.One small exception is that private individuals can take over the remains of the deceased from the Special Hospital “St. Sava” in case the burial of the deceased is performed in the remaining city cemeteries which are not managed by PCC “Pogrebne usluge”, Belgrade. In all other cases, when the family of the deceased selects the service of a private undertaker, his remains cannot be taken directly from the hospital by private undertakers and transported to their refrigeration equipment, but exclusively to the refrigeration equipment of PCC “Pogrebne usluge”, Belgrade, which in fact, it puts direct pressure on the family of the deceased to accept that the funeral of the deceased be organized by the PCC “Pogrebne usluge”.
